The AELP Students Make Egg-cellent Discoveries!

Week three's theme of Science and Technology is moving along faster than the speed of light!

In keeping with the week's theme, our AELP students were challenged to produce their own hypotheses, contraption, and findings for the Egg Drop Science Experiment.  The challenge:  drop an egg from nearly two stories onto concrete below without the egg cracking.
The scene of the Eggs-periment!
The students were broken up into lab teams of two and asked to use their creativity and scientific reasoning to create a contraption in one hour that could sustain the impact.
Filippo, from Italy, and Ellie, from Russia, start building!
Each team was given four eggs: three to run initial tests, and one for the final drop.  Many came back after their first egg test with contraptions covered in yolks; a clear sign that a new design was needed!
Good luck, egg!
Scrambled eggs, anyone?
However, by the experiment's finale, with each lab pair putting its egg through the official test, there was one resounding result: success!  The students' final egg tests demonstrated that they had learned from their previous mistakes and assumptions and sculpted that knowledge into something new. Adventure Assistant Cameron says, "For me, quite possibly the best part of the experiment was watching the students working in pairs and learning to compromise."

Coco, from China, and Jimena, from Mexico, working hard!
